I finally got approved yesterday! I am in hog heaven! I haven't gotten a date yet, I am switching surgeons to Richard Carter in Arlington. I am hoping to be banded the last week of August! I am finally there! I was denied at first and had to go to my pcp for a six month weight and blood pressure check. I turned my paperwork into my insurance (BCBS) after five months and was approved within 10 days!!! There is hope!

I'm in the last 2 months of the supervised diet, but now my insurance says I have to see a dietician for 6 months (they forgot to inform me of this 4 months ago). Oh well, you do what you have to do to get where you want to be. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Good Luck Readyforit! Just take it one day at a time. When I was first denied, I got very depressed. Just hang in there, it WILL happen, just takes time.

Thinner me, I hope that it all works out! How long do you have to see the dietian for? I think insurance companies just string you along, to see if you would try everything first! Good luck, I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks Iluvharleys! Wow, you are doing great on your weightloss! Only 8 more lbs to go, I can't wait to say that myself! Good luck! You have come so far, I know you can get the last bit!

Oops, I see you already got the date, I missed that before.

I got approved on a Friday and went for surgery the following Thursday -- I had two more dates before I actually got the band, tho'. I was happy -- at the time -- that it was happening so fast. But, I'm a wee bit misty that I didn't get to enjoy certain 'last meals' that I know I may never be able to eat again, or for a long time.

So THAT is something to look forward to in the next few days.

Nana....

The day will come where it just won't matter. food becomes less and less important as time goes on. Not saying you'll never crave something again, it just won't be as overwhelming as it was pre-band. It's sooooo nice when food becomes a non issue in comparison to pre-banding.

I was able to say "goodbye" to a lot of foods, I had to go through the six month dr counseling. I ate all those foods, during that time. I still need one more food to say goodbye too and then I will be completely ready. My sil had the surgery done over a year ago and she said that was the hardest for her, because it went so fast, she didn't get to enjoy certain foods at all. Everyone handles it their own way though! Good luck Nana!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
