9cc's and still not completely filled

Recommended Posts

:help:I had surgery May 22nd of this year. Since my 6 week post-op I have had 7 fills. My band is at 9cc's now and I still don't think it is as tight as it should be. I was told the band can be filled up to 10cc's...I'm afraid I will never get the restriction I am suppose to have and if I do my band will end up being completely full. I am very discouraged right now and wonder if I have made a mistake by having this procedure. What makes matters worse is I am a self pay patient. Therefore, I have paid for everything out of my own pocket. Does anyone have any suggestions or is their anyone else that has had or is having the same problem?

I am not yet where you are but I was wondering when you have a fill do they draw it out do they see 9cc in the syringe. I was just wondering if you possibly have a leak? Good luck I will keep you in my thoughts.

I also read that you can actually have a little more than 10cc in your band. I think you should ask your doctor about that too. Dont give up its going to work

I was banded about 6 months ago and have had 8 cc's filled. I was worried about maxing out the fills also but the dr. gave me a 1cc fill and I couldn't even swallow my own silva!! So I've had the 1cc taken back out and letting my stomach irritation go down. When you get to the end, even a little fill could give a lot of results!!

Thanks for sharing that info. I went to see my doctor on Monday and he took all the saline out and made sure all the air was out and put 8 or 8 1/2 cc's back in and it is definately tight now. He did have an x-ray taken to make sure I wasn't experiancing esophageal dialation. Just had that x-ray done this morning and everything looks good. As a matter of fact the radiologist said I might need my band loosened up a little. At last it is finally tight!!!

I completely understand your pain. I got banded on March 31. At first I was slightly restricted and was never hungry. After two months I lost all sense of restiction. I am up to 8.6 CCs and I am still able to eat EVERYTHING. My friends and family that have had the surgery are losing weight and having restriction. I am worried about failing this surgery. I keep talking to my doctor but he is of no help. I'm hoping to get a fill under fluro to see but i have to wait until I have insurance again  I understand your pain and hope you can reach your goals

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
