Hello everyone congrats on everyone who has recieved their approvals! And crossing my fingers for those who are still waiting!

Started my journey March 9th, I have all my clearances (cardio, pulmonary, sleep study and psych). My 5th visit with my PCP is on July 12 and my last will be on August 1. So I am praying that end of August hoping my insurance (healthfirst) approves!

Was a bit sad because I thought I wouldn't be able to have surgery since I had my appendix removed 6/26/16 was experiencing abdominal pain but my vsg surgeon said that it wouldn't be pushed back!

Hoping everything goes well and positive vibes to all!!!

I finished up my 6 months the required supervised weight loss with my pcp mid june, I'm now scheduled with my first appointment to see my surgeon and the nut on the same day july 20th.( I was honestly hoping to have surgery as close to my b day as possible the 26th). I have met all other requirements, once I meet with the surgeon he will give me an amount of weight to lose and only if I meet that goal will he schedule surgery

After I completed all of the required test (blood work, endoscopy, ekg, sleep study...) then everything was submitted to my insurance and I received approval within 2 weeks. I know every insurance company can be different. When I initially called months ago I was told it would not be covered at all with several calls I received accurate information on everything I needed to do prior to approval. I felt fortunate that the hospital I am having my surgery at was very helpful with this process.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
