Okay so this really isn't a question or anything but just looking for support. I've had at least 3 breakdowns today wondering if this surgery was the right choice for me. I know I should look at it long run and know that in the end it'll be worth it but right now it doesn't seem that way. I'm having such a hard time with finding things I like to eat, trying new things and keeping my mind off of living to eat instead of eating to live. I just need some uplifting words, yes I am still a teenager living at home and both my parents were sleeved 3 years ago but bringing up to my mom for help and having her give suggestions that I don't like she gets upset with me and then tells me not to ask her for help so I've stopped. You guys are like my family so I need the help and support from you guys as well as silly as that sounds

Most of us had the same feelings. Some because surgery is just scary. Some because it will lead to inevitable change with our relationship with food. Some because it might change their family relationships. You have a couple of weeks, so might I suggest: http://www.amazon.com/The-Emotional-First-Aid-Kit/dp/0976852659

Very helpful to me to help ID the cause of the anxiety. Good luck, can't wait to see your progress and remember what you are experiencing is normal. I hope your surgery was as easy as mine.

@@brittanylau Much of what you are feeling is hormonal. What kind of foods do you like and what stage are you on? Maybe someone will have some good suggestions (unless your favorite food is Pasta and cake). I would also encourage you to get some counseling - it really helps to work thru emotional eating and finding ways to cope with cravings. Stay strong!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
