My revision is approved and scheduled

Recommended Posts

So I am so me with a long story, so long story short...

First band 1/2011 lost over 100 lbs

Got deathly ill and band slipped , second band 8/2102 and it has sucked.

I am not scheduled for revision surgery July 20th. Excited, scared, nervous are just a few words. I may have to have the procedure done in 2 surgeries and that stinks. I am over all this. My first band changed my life for the better and I want that again.

My daughter is having sleeve surgery in less then 2 weeks so she's my focus right now, but all the emotions are making me crazy.

Ok done rambling.

I had a band in 2006. Lost about 40 pounds and was doing ok with it. Bnad slipped in 2014. Was removed and rebanded Jan 2014. I

Ive had nothing but misery with 2nd band! Gained almost 15 pounds since 2014. Nausea, food getting stuck, port pinching. Im going for consult to revise from band to sleeve. My current BMI is only 31 though. Wondering if insurance will decline? Im now pre-diabetic, along with severe sleep apnea and other comorbidities that qualified me for the band to begin with. Did you experience any problems with approval?

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this as well. Yes they denied first go around, but approved after I went to nutritionist and psych again. So nervous. Good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
