band to sleeve revision 5/17/16 - pain when consuming liquids

Recommended Posts

I had a band to sleeve revision May 17, following a second hiatal hernia (first hernia repair Dec. 2015). When I consume liquids, I can feel the liquids hit my stomach, which results in pain that is nearly intolerable, even with pain meds.

Has anyone else experienced this? And, if so, how long did it last?

History:

Band installed May 2003 - gained 25 lb

Diagnosed port leak June 2005

Port replacement 2005 - lost 160 lb

Band drained for pregnancy - gained 90 lb

Port replacement 2010 - lost 60 lb

Band drained for pregnancy - gained 50 lb

Sept 2012 - Feb 2015 - lost 50 lb

Band drained Sept 2015 due to massive reflux

Dec 2015 diagnosed with hiatal hernia & repaired same month

Band filled March 2016

Bad hiccup April 2016 - confirmed hiatal hernia

Had my band since 2008. Had revision to sleeve on 3/16/2016. The first week was difficult. Anything I drank had to be warm or was painful and yes I could feel it enter my stomach. It may be worse if you had hernia repaired. Hang in there, it will get better.

I had a revision on May 17 2016, also from band to sleeve. I can drink fluids but I have to do it slow (like a turtle), so I'm doing it every hr almost, to get fluids in. Can you try that method.? We both are only 5 days postop, and everyone says it will take time. Hope you feel better!

Same here but with plain Water only. I ve changed yesterday with hot water and lemon and a teaspoon of sweetener and it went down a treat. By the end of the day I managed 4 cups of hot water with lemon. No sweetener added because results show if you rely on sweetener all the time you are twice as likely to slip back into old habits and I do not want to be fat again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
