So I had the by pass on April 21st 2016

Up until about a week ago I was fine I could eat or drink with little to no issues now I get sick every time I eat or drink... And I feel sick all day every day I try to drink Water but it comes right up had to go to the hospital the other day they ran all these test no leaks no blockage they can find anything wrong but I'm still sick all the time and don't want to live like this for the rest of my life...

Any input would help... If you have been through this? Does it pass?

I call my doc all the time and they can't explain why this has happened or why it's still happening

Do not drink until 1/2 hour after you eat. Drink small sips. If you drink too much it sort of feels like Fluid going down a small funnel. If too much flied goes in then it will want to come back up.

I'm four months out and only recently started to feel better. I still eat slippery foods .

I have been feeling similar to you but it seem like mine was because of too much acid. I take my meds but have also added Malox and Tums regularly and it seems to help a lot.

I had this, and I had a swallow test performed. They found nothing remarkable but my surgeon thinks my esophagus randomly spasms which makes me vomit. I've been taking Zofran almost daily as a result, and it's helped. So a GI specialist too who thinks the same. It's decreased in the past few weeks actually, so maybe this is it? Request some Zofran if you have no heart issues.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
