Need suggestions... Please

Recommended Posts

I am 4 days post op. I have tried all the crystal lights. I loved the fruit punch in the beginning but now it seems a bit to sweet. Need Ideas on drinks and what I can eat. I'm been eating broth, Popsicles etc but I just want to taste something. Lol. Any suggestions?? I am trying slowly to get Protein in. Haven't gotten to full amount yet . I am taking all Vitamins. The other thing is I haven't had a bowel movement. Is this normal??

Thank you all

Whoa, friend. Take a breath. You will overwhelm yourself. Please, take one task at a time.

If the crystal lights are too sweet, Water them down, +/or add a bit of lemon juice to them.

Try adding Nutritional yeast to your broth. It will not only add Protein, but will had a "crouton" taste. Try making some homemade bone broth---so much better for you and soooo much better tasting.

sugar free ice pops will help with getting your liquids in and the cold wakes up your taste buds a bit.

Unflavored Protein powder may help instead of or in addition to your Protein shakes might help break the over sweetness issue.

There are a great many folks on this site who will be offering you many more suggestions. Take the time to not only read their posts, but try using the ones that fit into your life the best.

Try to relax.

Don't panic.

You got this.

With a little help from your friends (us, here on BP) you'll do great! :)

Prayers going up for you, Friend. :)

Yes like @@KristenLe said my first question is what phase of your diet are you on? Are you on full liquids yet? If so try some strained creamed Soup or yogurt........if you're still on clear liquid if Crystal Light is too sweet like @@Valentina said Water it down............or better yet, there is always just plan old Water. I also like the Mio water enhancers I don't have a favorite I like a bunch of different ones.

Hang in there and follow your plan.......

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
