3 days out and feel like ****!

Recommended Posts

Got sleeved on Monday and I feel way worse than I did the first and second days. I think I got a virus unrelated to the surgery. I feel nauseous 24/7 even taking Zofran. I'm so thirsty but am sticking go my limits. Someone please help! What might settle my stomach?

Oh no!!! I'm sorry you feel so bad on day 3! I know this is a dumb question, but have you called your doctor? I didn't realize how important it was for them to hear you were not getting better. Also... You don't want to get dehydrated. Please keep us posted and feel better!!!

There shouldn't be any limits to how much you are drinking (except physical limits). So if you can get more Water in, do! Especially if you are fighting a virus. Hydration is super important. And I agree that you should call your surgeon if the nausea is that bad.

I must say in experience the 3rd day is always the worst. Hopefully everything after today will go up hill instead of down hill. Drink a lot of Water so you don't get dehydrated. Hope you feel better!

Are you running a fever? If so, I would call your doc. On my take home sheet one of the first things listed was if you run a fever call.

I'm 19 days post op. I was sleeved on a Friday, home on Saturday. Sat and Sunday I was somewhat OK, Monday I was miserable. I didn't feel good, I was thirsty all.the.time. Anything other than Water made me feel sick. But then it started to get better. Now, nearly 3 weeks into this I feel good...so it really does get better! You just have to hang in there.

I put in a call to my surgeon but no call back. They said not to drink more than 1 Oz every 15 minutes. No fever but I have lost my voice.

Honestly, if you're having nausea despite Zofran. I don't know why they are limiting your fluids to 1 oz every 15" if you can swallow more - they don't want you gulping is all.

Are you passing gas and/or stool yet?

Yes gas and diraheah. Idk they didn't seem very keen on answering questions. They were also very reluctant to give Zofran and pain Ned's in the hospital.

I took Zofran *and* a med to stop my stomach from cramping. Huge relief.

Gatorade diluted with Water was much easier for me to tolerate. Straight Water still makes me want to hurl. My first few weeks were rough but at week three, I felt great! Keep calling your doctor. You are paying them big bucks for help. Make sure you get that help.

Are you sure they said not to drink more than an ounce every 15 minutes as a limit? That makes no sense. Most surgeons recommend trying to drink AT LEAST an ounce every 15 minutes.

Hello day 3 I was still in the hospital due to severe nausea, even with the zofran. Doc finally put a patch on me and I felt better. I was an improvement. Sorry you are going through this. It does get better. You may want to call the doctor.

Keep trying the doctor and get in as much Fluid as you can - if you're having diarrhea that alone will dehydrate you.

Hang in there! I questioned my decision the first few days but now is day 6 and I feel so much better. I know it's gonna be a long process, but I'm looking forward to not having to worry about my sugars or blood pressure.

Thanks everyone! My husband spoke to my Dr (lost my voice) they said I can now drink to my comfort level. Had a Protein Shake and feel a little better. What liquids made you feel the best the first few weeks? Also, are we allowed to wear a belly binding thing for support?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
