C'mon. You know the answer to this. If you're on a 2-week course of liquids, Anything that isn't liquid isn't something you should be eating. Period.

Yes. This is hard. but honestly, it's two weeks out of the rest of your life. You need to suck it up and just do this. You're going to have to follow postop instructions, too. Those can be hard in a different way than the preop diet. And postop instructions last a lot longer than two weeks.

You really need to ask yourself if you are ready for surgery. it's serious business, and if you aren't ready to take it seriously, it's time to take stock and ask yourself why.

I'm pre-op in like I don't have a date....Are you have anxiety about the surgery?

Yes I am but at the same time I'm ready

I say this with all due respect and care.

You aren't ready until you can control what you are putting in your mouth. Fritos, Triscuits, etc. tell me you aren't as ready as you want to be.

Pretend like you are on Naked and Afraid, and all you have out in the jungle are Protein shake trees and bottled Water on a vine. The good news is that you don't have to be naked with monkeys peeing on your head from the jungle canopy. Its only 14 days instead of 21, and there is no three mile hike uphill through thorn bushes to get out of there.

Here....I just posted this on another thread for someone else who is struggling. The pre-op liquid diet is a right of passage to a better quality of life.

Jeez ... I thought we had this conversation before.

You're on the pre-op liver-shrinking diet -- and you're wondering if fritos are OK?

What's going on? Do you think you're trying to sabotage yourself so you won't be able to have weight loss surgery?

(Honest, that wasn't a snarky question -- but a serious one.)

Just for fun if you ever want to see just how much fat is in Fritos......light one on fire .......it will burn like a candle because it has so much oil and fat in it!.....there's not too many worse things you could choose. I think you need to get serious with yourself and make this work, if this is actually what you want.

@@KindaFamiliar

I'm with @@LipstickLady ...this is going to be a serious strain on our friendship. I don't think we can get past this.

Life without guacamole - like life without cheese - is hardly worth living.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
