30 minutes before and after

Recommended Posts

I should not drink 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after eating. I just got home from the hospital today. I drank a few ounces of Protein shake, but then has a sip of Water to remove that taste from my mouth.

My question is--does the 30 minute rule still apply when you are drinking your meal as a Protein Shake?

Hi,

From what I understand the 30 min rule is when you are eating food, not shakes.< /p>

Hope all goes well for you. I was told that its best to sip all your liquids. Keeps air out of the stomach.

Have my surgery 5/25 and It has been a long 8 months but its just around the corner now.

Thank you! I appreciate the info. Very new to gastric bypass, and I want to be doing everything right.

My doc said to adhere to that rule regardless of what phase you're in, he said you have to establish the habit anyway, so let's do it, no more cuttin corners anywhere

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
