Is it normal to feel normal?

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 weeks post op. I feel no pain. I feel active. I went swimming and it felt great. I eat normal food (no carbs or hard food yet) and it feels great. I sometimes have a weird feeling that something is not right because i feel so normal. I feel nauseous now and then but still i feel normal. Sometimes i have strange gas noises coming from my stomach but it doesn't hurt or anything it just feels weird.

I am scared of a thing called (undetected leaks) since I went swimming and my child jumbed on my stomach.

I get the feeling that there is something wrong even though i feel ok. Anyone had this experience?

Well, I feel the same way I must say! Ever since my surgeon told me I could go back to biking and swimming, I have been feeling pretty good which is kinda weird after the first "meh" month where I was tired all the time.

I don't think there is anything wrong, if you don't feel pain or perpetual disconfort then it should mean everything is fine! Enjoy feeling good is all I can say :)

I think around 4 weeks is when I really started to feel like a normal human being again too. I think by then you are recovered from the surgery, at least on soft foods, getting a fair amount of calories in, and getting back into a routine. So I think that, yes, it is normal to feel "normal" again around that time.

That's great news. I'm five days out and the only pain I have is a little bit from the hernia that was repaired. Haven't been swimming yet LOL

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
