Well, at this point you don't need to be sucking on ice. You should be sipping on actual Water all day long. Take a sip literally every couple of minutes. Moisturize during this process or your hands and lips will suffer. As time passes you will reach the point where you will be able to drink as normal. I'm almost a full year out and I could chug an entire bottle of Water if I wanted to. But at your stage I was forced to just take baby sips.

It could be your body's reaction to ketosis, which is know to cause dry mouth. It could also be oral thrush. Check your tongue in the mirror and see if there is a white film on the back of it, toward your throat. I got oral thrush post-op from the liquid antibiotic I was on.

Otherwise, you might just genuinely be thirsty. How many ounces of fluids are you getting in per day?

That is why you are thirsty. One of the challenges immediately post-op is staying ahead of dehydration. If you are thirsty you are dehydrated. Keep aggressively sipping. You need to be getting more Water.

Try Vitamin Water zero rise orange ... It could be the potassium that you're craving and plain water or ice chips just doesn't do it.

You're thirsty cause this isn't enough Fluid. I was given a minimum of 64oz. In order to do that I had to sip every moment from the second I woke up in the morning. I did not go to bed till I had gotten in 64oz. My Protein smoothies were 24-32 oz and the rest was pedialyte, Water, diluted Vitamin water, diluted juice, and since I had an easier time getting in warm fluids I drank a lot of broth and herbal tea.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
