In hospital post op n need blood transfusion

Recommended Posts

I thought all was ok but apparently I have low hemoglobin n they insisting I need a blood transfusion. I been here four days and. I hope to go home tomorrow.

Prior to this I had a gastric balloon n me for 7 months and they said it messed up my stomach and the tissue was very hard and tuff so the surgery lasted three hours. And it should of lasted one.

So my advice to anyone. Dnt waste ur time in a balloon. I didn't lose but 10 pounds on it.

Have anyone experienced low hemoglobin and blood transfusion after sleeve?

I kiss my kids and want to be home.

On a good note. I'm able to drink Water and broth no problem.

I'm sorry to hear you are hospitalized @@koddie - I hope you are able to go home soon and feel better. I'm assuming that they have confirmed that you are not bleeding and that's not causing your low hemoglobin? How long ago was your surgery - did they mention if you lost alot of blood during the operation?

Kristen

I didn't need a transfusion after sleeve, but I did have one after another surgery. It made me feel like Super Woman! It was amazing. If you feel crappy now, you will feel SO MUCH better after the transfusion. Hang in there!

@@KristenLe yes I had a three hour surgery which they said should of been only one hour and I lost a lot of blood. They didn't tell me at first. But my blood count was lows we did do ultrasound and everything is ok nothing bleeding. I had to drink a few sips of Water that made me glow on my insides lol and they tracked it. I'm good.

Overall I feel ok. I'm not having any issue drinking Water. I guess this was my biggest fear so I'm happy

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
