Starting 4th week - been stalled for a week already

Recommended Posts

Guess I definitely hit the dreaded 3 week stall. Lost 14 pounds at 10 day post op appointment, then 2 more and then it stopped. So 3 weeks out and stuck at 16 pounds.

I am getting about 500 calories / 60-70 grams of Protein a day. Eating Greek yogurt, fat free refried Beans, cottage cheese, hummus on soft lunch meat turkey that is easy for me to chew before swallowing.

I see Nut Friday, see what tips she will give me to be sure I'm doing everything right.

I know it is frustrating but at least you knew to expect it. It is just part of the process. There is nothing you can do to "break" it. I am 10 1/2 months post-op and I have them occasionally and then you will see a big drop when it breaks. Your body needs to break to catch up. For now, stick to the program and stay off the scale. It will drive you crazy! 16 pounds in 3 weeks is amazing! Congratulate yourself and as @InnerSurferGirl says - EMBRACE THE STALL....

Thank you. You are right, I should be proud of the 16, hopefully I can report a couple more by next Monday, one month surgiversary. If not I will keep on embracing the stall and remember that I am still down a total of 65 since my 1st appointment at the start of the program (20 lbs pre-op, 31 lbs prior to pre op from January to mid March from no appetite from a prior surgery I needed done prior to RNY and the 16 post op) So I still have a lot to be proud of.

Thanks for the kind words !!!

Begin focusing on how you feel, like clothes being looser, sitting in chairs more comfortably, walking easier, etc. And don't keep a scale in your house! Yes, it will make you crazy! Hang in there. The weight will come off especially if you start some exercise. And do it slowly. Someone earlier said its a marathon not a sprint. Be kind to yourself. And be proud of every pound you've already lost, knowing it will stay off!! I'm rooting for you!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
