Looking for a buddy

Recommended Posts

I live in NC and I'm 6 days post op as of today. I'd love to have someone to talk to about it. So, who wants to be my buddy? :)

I'm not even worried about location. I'd just like to have somebody to talk to about the whole process and future. Are you post or pre?

I'm all the way up in NY but I love making new friends and I like to help. ^_^ I'll be 8 months post-op on Sunday, down 149 since surgery and 194 overall.

Wow, that's amazing. I'm so happy for you. I haven't weighed yet but I think it's probably because I'm still healing that that is my main focus.

Hi. I am 4 days out and live in Forest City, NC. We are so close to each other. I had bypass on April 20th. Would love to be support buddies! I am 48 and work in the school system with special needs kids in a local Middle School. I have been married for 29 years and have 2 children. One living and one in heaven already. Look forward to hearing back from you!

Hello, I'm 32 years old and live in Arkansas. I had surgery for RNY on the 20th. I've lost 14 pounds since I've been home as of the 21st. I'm really struggling to get in enough fluids especially the Protein. I feel weak. I'm sure everyone does. It just adds extra stress thinking about it though. I'm SOOOO over this liquid diet!

The Protein Shake diet is terrible but it gets a great deal better once you can try pureed foods. Just try to think of the Protein shake phase as taking medicine. Just have to get it down so you can feel better. You won't really enjoy the taste of food again until puree but you can definitely do it. It sucks but you did the surgery for a reason and this is the hardest part (at least to me so far it was). I'm 18 days post op as of today and things are looking up.

I tried something this morning and it has helped me get down my Protein this morning. I have been chewing (very carefully) on sugar free mint trident. I have had an absolute horrid taste in my mouth. So anyways, I chewed a piece for about 5 minutes to get the taste out of my mouth. Well, the mint seems to be soothing to me anyways. (Could be mind over matter). I decided I was going to force myself to at least get these first 8 ounces of chocolate powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury down. I put my piece of mint gum above where I drink from my shaker. So before I drink I smell the mint, not the Protein shake. Besides the fact it gives it a mint chocolate chip sensation. I've with ease got the Fluid down since I last posted this morning. Just thought I'd share with yall! :)

Have you tried mixing in your blender the protein however you've been mixing it a little ice and fresh mint?

No I havent. They warned me away from the blender for the first little whike, saying it would make the shakes frothy. But I do like the mint idea. Thank you!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
