When Do I Expect Restriction ?

Recommended Posts

I am starting week 2, or my Full liquids Phase. This morning I had an 11 oz EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control RTD, and I sipped on it and I finished it in about an hour... I never felt an restriction. I feel full and satisfied ( not stuffed and miserable, I felt like it was the perfect amount )

I know everyone is different, but my concern is that I am reading about people only tolerating 2-3 oz at a time...I sipped and sipped and took it slow and finished the whole thing - all 11 oz......( 17g Protein, 2.5 g fat, 3 Carbs, no sugars. )

Maybe the 2-3 oz only applies to people who have moved on to pureed/soft foods. The EAS is pretty thin and seems to go right down.

I feel like I could have this for Breakfast everyday for the next 2 weeks while I am on full liquids. Am I on the right track ?

liquid tends to flow through. that's why we are supposed to not drink right after we eat.

when you eat food, do you feel full? example: 2-3 oz of chicken?

You are doing great. Drink all the liquids you can tolerate and take as long as you need to drink them. You'll feel restriction - don't worry. It'll come in good time. You aren't very far out from surgery. Just drink all you can and know that the restriction will be there when you are fully healed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
