Got a "Day after Surgery" Question.

Recommended Posts

When you leave the hospital the next day, Will I be able to wear my Bra? Most of you know what I am saying. My girls are too large to be left untamed.

All of my incisions were at the level of my belly button or lower. My bra did not touch them. Just wear it loose because you may be swollen some.

  • I was able to wear mine. It didn't get in the way of the incision I have.

I wore mine a few days later...im a 42d here...and i wore a very tight cami over my incisions...bra never bothered them...but when i got home i took it off and just wear a sweatshirt when home to allow my incisions to breath

I had an incision right at my bra line. An underwire bra would have been out of the question. Thankfully someone warned me in advance and I had purchased a soft cotton fasten-in-front bra (no underwire!) and used that until my incisions were more healed.

I also had an incision at my bra line and there is no way I could wear a regular bra. Wearing bras was uncomfortable for weeks! I was a DDD. So glad I work from home. It must have been a month before I could wear an underwire. Get some loose fitting Hanes sports bras. You might tolerate those better. I got some cheap on Amazon. Good luck!

I did not have any incisions at my bra line, and was able to comfortably wear a sports bra home. I didn't bother with a proper bra with underwire; I was uncomfortable enough as it was, and I just wanted to get home in my own bed.

Try it on. If it hurts or is bothersome in anyway, take it off.

Problem solved. :)

(I wore mine home)

Don't worry. You got this!

Yikes, I have rather large breast myself. Scared of no bra!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
