I'm about 7 weeks out and I find that I'm having trouble with my blood pressure going up and down but also when it's where it's supposed to be I'm still getting daily headaches when I wake up. Could this be headaches from hunger and does anyone else have hunger headaches?

Please see your doctor if your blood pressure is not stable. For most patients, blood pressure will drop after surgery which either clears up issues or cause one to have to take less medicine. Hunger can cause headaches but high blood pressure can as well.

@@Sandra McConnell - after losing about 25 lbs my BP dropped very low so the dose was cut in half. As the OP dehydration can also cause headaches, fuzzy headiness, sleepiness...get checked out.

I am hoping to be completely off the BP meds soon.

Call your bariatric team. Headaches are no fun, and nothing to play with.

Dehydration, High/low Blood Pressure, medication imbalance all can cause headache. Even an increase/decrease in weather fronts coming and going can cause a head ache as can stress, excitement and depression.

Just a thought: have you given up caffeine? Caffeine withdrawal can cause horrible headaches.

So many possibilities---so many of us nonmedical friends giving you our opinion. :)

Really, friend, call your doctor. Please.

thanks for all the great and informative answers to my post. I started a new medication to add to my blood pressure meds and found out that side effects for that med is headaches....had one day without a headache yesterday. I also added another Claritin and that also helped. The headache is barely there this morning so when I talk to my primary care this week I will find out if the addition is helping my blood pressure or if we'll have to add something else. I thought it was kind of weird that my blood pressure went way down the day after the surgery. Gotta watch it now since my BP machine says it is close to normal. I'm so glad to have people responding to this website who have been through the same things I have. Thank you all!

Sandy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
