Banded with Dr. Oh

Recommended Posts

Hi - I am new to chat forums of any kind. I am scheduled for a lapband with Dr. Oh on Dec. 18th. It may change though because I have to get another cardio test. My husband asked me to get some feedback from some other actual lapband recipients to see if it really works and if most are happy with the results. Any bad experiences? Thanks in advance for the input.

Hi Peggy, I have had my band since 3/27/08. This was the best decision for me. I have now lost 85 pounds. I need to update my ticker. I still can not believe that it has only been 8 months and that much weight is gone. I do have a few issues, such as reflux at night, but that did not start until my last fill. So now I do not eat late and I sleep with 5 pillows. :cursing: My doctor said that I was ok. I did check with her. I would have never lost this much weight if it were not for my band keeping me in check. It is a lot of hard. You must work to keep the weight coming off. I also did a lot of research prior to deciding. So that is what I would recommed for you and do not be afraid to ask your doctor questions. Good luck!!

Hi All

I was banded with Dr Oh on 1/20 I'm down 31 lbs and haven't had my first fill yet. Is anyone having a problem keeping to the all liquid diet for the first month? I just can't I've added s/f puddings, soft cooked eggs and mashed potatoes. It's just to hard to only stick to Protein drinks.

Surgery went amazingly well though. No gas, nasua etc etc. I'm doing very well.

Only complaint I had was being told to be at the hospital in Fed Way at 5:30 AM and finding out my surgery wasn't until 4PM. They wouldn't let me leave either... I was NOT a happy camper. Their office staff needs to get on the ball a bit more letting you know when changes happen. That was the second time that had happened. As for Dr. Oh I love the man...

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
