First Day (BaratricPal)

Recommended Posts

My name is Monie! My surgery date is April 14th, I'm excited and nervous all in one.. But I am believing in the man upstairs to see me through... Today is day 8 of my pre-op "shake down".. Hasn't been that bad. I use Bariatric fusion strawberry shortcake it's very tasty.. 2 shakes a day and lean meat with veggies for dinner.. Starting on the 9th I will only intake the shakes maybe 5 a day. I am so ready for the change. I live in Sunrise Florida and Dr. Fernando Bayron is my surgeon......

You are in the home stretch now! Glad to hear you are doing well with the pre-op diet. It can be pretty tough. Just hang in there and keep your eye on the prize. You'll be joining us on the losers' bench in no time!

OMG Monie45. I'm April and I live in Sunrise, FL as well. I'm off to MX next week to have surgery. We should definitely stay in touch. I'm on day 4 of my preop and so far so good. I'm a little tired of the shakes but I'm sticking with it. I was beginning to think I was the only one in Sunrise going through this. I'm so glad you posted.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
