Started my journey this week.

Recommended Posts

I'm 34 weighing in at 252 lbs. I've struggled with my weight my entire life. I've finally had enough, the day I could no longer strap into my favorite roller coaster was the day I started looking into weight loss surgery.

I've decided on the gastric sleeve and am currently waiting to schedule my sleep study and attend the mandatory seminar for qualifications for my insurance.

This is an amazing place to read information and I'm grateful to you all!!!

Had my consultation and met with my surgeon. He agrees that gastric sleeve is my best choice and was surprised at how much research I had already done. Psych evaluation on Tuesday and sleep study next Monday.

The exact same thing happened to me!! I brought my niece to an amusement park and couldn't fit in one of the rides . I was so horrified and embarrassed . That was the moment I knew I needed to do something. I'm one month post op and down 25 pounds. I feel great. I have been freaking out a little because my weight loss has slowed down a lot . But I'm gonna work harder and get there!! I'm going to California in September and going to 4 amusement parks and riding EVERY ride!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
