I was just going through the board again. It dawned on me that here and there people mention dieting before the banding and pre op liquid diet. Is this normal? What is the reason for this? Does every sergion what something differnt or is this a general rule of thumb. And what is the purpose? To cleane your system out. I thought I read something about the liver. Any info would be helpful. I haven't talk a sergion yet still doing my foot work. Go to the seminar next week. Loving this board! It has been a God sent.

Thanks:clap2:

My Dr. wants the pre-op diet to shrink the liver and get some fat off of it. It is near the area where they place the band. I think I helped me in other ways too. It reminded me that I can go hungry. Hunger pains won't kill me - in fact they will make me healthier by helping me lose weight. I am only two weeks post surgery but I find that remembering how well I kept the pre-op diet helps me get through the liquid and mushy stage that you must do after surgery. The weight loss prior to surgery is very encouraging too!!

Thank you for your reply. Here is another little tid bit that helps me when I am dieting and I am hugrey. Bob Green and Oprah say that when your belly is grawling and nawing at you, if you don't feed it, that is when it turns to the fat on your body for food. Hey It help me! LOL

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
