When do you stop feeling like an Exxon station?

Recommended Posts

My cousin and I were banded on July 30, 2007. She is doing very well. However, I haven't been able to sleep. I feel the port or something in me which is painful for one. Also, it feels like gas settles all over when I am laying down. I am up and down all night. It's hard for me to burp, even though I can feel so much pressure in my chest it hurts! I have no trouble passing gas the other way!! :) In fact, I go back to work tomorrow and I am a lil scarred of that!

Anyone have the low down on what to do or how to help these dilemmas? Thanks brother and sister bandster's!

I'm sorry no one has answered your question yet, cuz. Maybe if I bump it up. Hope you're sleeping!

A lot of us were more comfortable sleeping in our recliners for the first week or two. Hot peppermint tea or even Gas-X strips may help "promote" burping. Good luck on your return to work. Post tomorrow to tell us how it went!

I slept in my recliner for almost a week. Also, getting up and walking is very important. That will help get rid of the gas. It will pass...

I have been getting up all night everynight and walking in circles! It does seem to help if even for a short time. I'm here at work now. Everyone is at lunch. LUCKY THEM! I think I am going to pop outside in the HEAT and swelter around the block a time or two. I'm not feeling all that gassy at the moment but, supposidley the more you walk and move around the better you feel. I dunno if I am buying that yet! HEHE.

Thanks for the replies ya'll.

P.S. I couldn't get my lil tracker thing to post! Booo. :-(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
