Have to Brag

Recommended Posts

Good job! I'm running a 1/2 marathon on April 9 (I think that's the date) so my last long run was this weekend. I'm also doing the Tinker Bell 1/2 marathon at Disneyland on Mother's day. Glad you're training is going so well. I remember when you first posted about it and wanted to know if you were crazy! We told you it would be good! Good luck with the rest of your training!!

You were right! It seemed so impossible at the time, but now it is within reach. Crazy what our bodies can do when we push them! I'm just being super cautious to avoid injury. I always do a proper warm up and cool down. I have an extensive stretching routine I do after each run. And I always elevate and ice my knees for 15-20 minutes after each run. As long as I take care of my knees, they will get me where I need to go.

yes - but I have to admit, I have a dog, and a treadmill, so I have been walking for a long time. I didn't start this new after surgery. :-) however, I find it much easier to walk longer, faster and my distance has doubled easily since surgery. it feels GREAT! and the pup is very happy.

Great job! I walk 6 miles a day and just started jogging for one minute every 5 of the walk. I can't push it too much because of bad knees, but it sure is easier now than before the weight loss.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
