Surgery Tomorrow, Honestly terrified

Recommended Posts

So my surgery is tomorrow and honestly im fucking scared I feel like I know this the right decision for me I'm 20 years old a college student and I feel like my life is just getting started and I'm doing the surgery now because I want to have a life I have no friends spend most my days inside and I do want to change that I've been heavy my entire life ever since I can remember, I found this forum 15 minutes ago while browsing the web my current weight is round 470 pounds I am motivated to change that's not what I'm worried about I have started exercising I've been in my liquid diet for 3 weeks I've never met or known anyone on a personal level who's had this surgery let alone struggled with weight I'm doing the surgery so that I can have a life.

I guess I'm still scared maybe it's the hospital or anesthesia or I don't know.

I don't know why I came to these forms maybe I'm just looking for someone to say that I can do it. To believe in me maybe I'm just scared.

You will be so glad you made this decision. You would like a lovely young woman and you need your outside yo match your inside. The first few weeks will be tough as you'll be tired but in the grand scheme of things, it's a mere blink in time. Make certain you grab all the help you can especially in the first year. Make it count. You can do it. Prayers be with you.

Congrats to you!!!! I just had surgery last Tuesday. You will be fine but it is normal to be anxious prior to any surgery or life changing situation. You WILL do great!!!!!

I don't blame you for being afraid, but just hang in there and know you're life is about to change tomorrow and the steps you'll take thereafter you will no longer be a prisoner trapped inside your own body. You've come this far for a reason you can do this. Heck I commend you for sticking to the liquid diet for 3 weeks you've won the first battle, you went to all your appointments saw your specialists and did everything required of you and that was not easy. I wish you a successful surgery and a painless and speedy recovery.

Its completely natural to be scared. You are undergoing a major surgery and it is going to change your life.

Saying a little prayer for you and your surgical team tomorrow.

PS. Welcome to BP :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
