Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone, I am having Vsg with Dr. Peters at Wilmington Hospital on 3/22 , check in 5:30 am and I am struggling with this liquid diet as I type!!

Hello! Dr. Peters is my surgeon too... Isn't he great?! Very down to earth. You are exactly 1 week ahead of me. Good luck. I surprisingly did drop 3.5 #.. Thank God!

Does everyone that use Chrias have to do Optifast ?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I believe so. It is part of their program. And they sell it. They do ask if you have diabetes or soy allergy, so maybe you would do something different if you had those issues. Not really sure. Good luck!

@@Phillygirl_in_DE, how are you doing today? Day 4 of Optifast for me. I'm hanging in there but have had an annoying headache and empty stomach growl. Lost 6.8lbs though so I am happy about that. Just really tired a lot.

@@thundermama , woo hoo! 6.8 is awesome!! I feel good today. I had a very good day yesterday, being out really helped! I'm stuck inside today (day 4) doing homework and laundry (ugh!) and am just trying to stay focused. I'm down 4.5, and I will take it...considering I screwed up on day 2.

Hope you feel better! Hang in there! Is tylonal helping? I started drinking hot chicken broth from my coffee mug... Love the feeling of a warm belly again!

I wish someone would have told me how I would feel on the Optifast. I loaded up on SF Jello and popsicles. That has definitely helped. The popsicles are great to chew on- I am shocked by how I already miss that.

I am exhausted, feel fuzzy headed, and don't want to do anything. I am hoping it gets better though. I am mourning my Starbucks!!!! LOL

I am adding ice to the shakes and that helps tremendously, and I am drinking tons of Water. I've told my husband and son that they are on their own for dinner. I'm really trying not to tempt myself. I think I can see how addicted to food I am. I feel like a security blanket is already gone. But, I wanted to do this, so this is the temporary reality.

I say let's support each other through this!

Day 3 on Optifast, and I'm so glad you are also experiencing this. I've felt like such a space cadet the past few days and I was getting concerned.

Hello there,

I am scheduled for March 29th but sorry not from Delaware. I wanted to ask are already on your pre op diet or do you start on the 22nd also what Protein shakes do you use?

Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

We are using Optifast because that is what's required by our surgeons. If you can choose your own Protein Shakes I suggest Premier Protein. I like all flavors, choc, vanilla and strawberry. You can get them at Sams club, costco and I think walgreens or cvs. These are the shakes I will use post-op. Good luck to you.

@@Phillygirl_in_DE, how are you doing??? Trying to be a good surgery buddy here.

Today has been a struggle. I just wanted to snack and feel hungry. I can't believe I was able to resist Chinese take-out!

I'm getting nervous as surgery date gets near. I hope you and the rest of our thread (@@rachelalvogel and @sleever314) are doing well. I'm trying not to freak! LOL

My husband made corned beef and cabbage with colcannon tonight. This Irish girl seriously had her willpower tested!

I've had a super ugly sinus infection, so mostly I've been worrying about getting well enough for surgery rather than thinking about surgery itself. The closer it gets, the less time you'll have to stress and before you know it, we'll all be on team rapid weight loss!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
