I was sleeved on 2/8. I lost 34 pounds in the first 3 weeks, and things have been going smoothly until the last week. I am severely constipated. So much so, that I have gained back 2 pounds and I cannot even pass gas very easily. I have IBS with Constipation, which I have had since before surgery. I take my prescription Linzess, a stool softener if needed, I have tried drinking Smooth Move tea, taken the prescription gas medicine and taken gas-x strips....all still with no relief. I am desparate, has anyone else ever had this bad a bout of constipation since surgery, and what did you do? Help!

Can you try old school remedies like warm prune juice? My doctor told me to start on a probiotic with Fiber now to adjust my body...

I'm not sleeved yet. April 4!!!! But I've been reading here people using Milk of Magnesia. And warm prune juice is a good suggestion too. I had 2-3 prunes to my smoothie every day. Can't hurt.

It is advisable for you to take this Digestic by Mimonis. It is an herbal supplement that helps me in relieving my Constipation problem. It just take me few days and got my normal bowel movement. I am sharing this because I know it can help you also.

I have IBS w/ Constipation, too. I was on Linzess before surgery, but my dr and I decided to stop it for surgery to see if I could go without it. Now, I'm struggling to get regular. He wants me doing Miralax once a day and Citrucel once a day plus plenty of liquids. It is helping, but still not daily or even close!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
