2 days post op

I had my band out to sleeve and gallbladder removed on Friday. It took about 3 hours I'm told.

I came home last night from hospital. I've been up and moving around. Sipping my Water and working on a Protein Shake. Still not able to get a lot in. Pain hasn't been too horrible.

Getting a little reflux but they gave me rx for that.

I'm sorry if this is TMI...Also haven't had a bowel movement. They told me to take stool softener so I've taken 2 today.

I'm happy to get my new life started without the band.

I didn't have my first BM until about a week and a half after surgery. It's actually not a big deal because I was on a liquid diet. You may find that you will have diarrhea and/or Constipation, or if you were like me you will have weeks of diarrhea followed by weeks of constipation. I actually had to take laxatives for several weeks. Eventually with time your system will balance out and be normal again.

That helps me feel better :) It's a whole new ball game I'm learning. I keep feeling like I should be able to drink more of my Protein shakes. I didn't get anything at all while in the hospital but Water.

I made my first shake on Sunday and that took me all day to drink and the same for yesterday. I also made some of the nutrifast Tomato protien Soup in the evening, but only managed 2 ounces of that.

Today I just finished off the shake I made at 7:30 this morning. So I'd be due for another around 2ish. I guess that's building up alright.

I had a coughing fit last night and felt like I ripped something open on my left side!! It was scary - stinging, stabby pain for a few minutes. It subsided and I drank some Water and it never came back thankfully. I hate that I keep having coughing fits and my throat is sore. Guess I'll try some hot tea :)

@@iamshazza congrats on your surgery! Sounds like you are taking good care of yourself, just sip sip sip as much as possible. I also found that the tea "smooth move" really helped move things, better than the softener for me anyway. Take care and on to the next stage of your life!

Thanks butterfly23! What brand is that tea? I did finally get things going yesterday and today on that front. I usually drink peppermint tea.

@@iamshazza its called Smooth Move by Natures Medicinals I think - they make a peppermint flavor. I got mine at Walmart but have seen at most stores in the tea section. Just in case you need to move things again.

Glad to read you also got your GB out - mine had to come out 5 months after my VSG because of the rapid loss. Hope you are able to rest and heal for the next few weeks!

I had band to sleeve revision Tues, Mar 1st. I've felt pretty good too, just some minor discomfort. In just 4 days, I'm down 7 pounds, and finally had the elusive BM after taking 3 tbl of milk of magnesia last night. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
