:banana Wow you're doing great!! :banana

Just think... how sad... you'll never find them again... shall we have a moment of silence for all those we've lost? {silence}

Ok enough of that... onward and downward!!

Guest MARLENT

Hi Everyone!

I'm so glad to have found this site... you have all been so informative and helpful throughout the last couple of weeks. I was banded on Oct. 20th, by Dr. Ortiz, my experience has been very positive so far. I've tried by best to follow dr.'s orders, but have actually learned the ropes of post-op through all of your advice and recommendations. I'm a little concerned w/ a pause in my weight loss, I lost 11 pounds the fisrt two weeks and have not seen a change since. I've continued the required Water intake and making good food choices, any suggestions?

I'm scheduled for my first fill Dec. 4th, does everyone receive the same amount (fill) during the first fill appointment? How is that determined? My initial BMI was 37 and has dropped to 34 in almost a month, does that have anything to do with it? I feel a some restriction, but have been dealing with quite a bit of hunger lately. Is this feeling normal (pre-fill).

Again, Thanks for all the advice.

Marlent

Most of us lose a lot of Water weight during the first couple of weeks. Then, as our bodies heal and we start eating more normally, some of the Water returns. We're losing fat, but gaining water, so the scale might not show a change -- but you might look different.

Don't get discouraged. What you're experiencing is completely normal. So is the hunger!

Becki, that is fabulous. What a great start -- you Celebrate. Send those pounds packing and don't worry where they travel too. I am glad you don't know my address -- please don't send them to me. HA. That is marvelous news on your loss. Fabulous!!!!

Hi Marlent.. I was banded by Dr. Ortiz also..Congrats on your band and good luck to you..No not everyone gets the same fill..don't worry Dr. Martinez is the master of fills. He will fill you just right from what he sees under the fluoro and with the barium. You're in good hands ;) oh and you are normal to feel hungry during the pre fill stage..we all have been there.

Becki..cute post :) Good for you on the 10lbs and the 16 inches. Keep it up!~

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
