Thanks jmcambra!

Just checking in on this 1st day of August! I did lose the 15lbs I wanted to lose in the month of July. YAY ME!!! I'll be happy with a 10lb loss for the month of August. My face is getting way too small. The "doberman pincher" look runs in my family and I am scared to see what I will look like once I lose these last 40lbs. My body is alot (((jigglier))) than I want it to be, but I can deal with it. I have finally mastered the "stairmaster", I can do 30 min. jogs on the treadmill, I'm up to 200 crunches a day. I probably could challenge myself some more, but as long as I'm still losing I'm not going to push myself. The count down is on...only 16lbs to ONE-DER-LAND...WOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!! :wow2::cheer2:;):)

Hi Tia, Juli, and Mary! Mary, to update my ticker I just click on my ticker and it takes me straight to the update page. I click on edit/update, put in my password, change my weight and date and click next and it's changed. Hope this helps if you try the ticker again.

Have a great month everyone!!!

Maybe "MASTERED" is a strong word, but when I first tried using the stairmaster I would sink like a rock everytime. I couldn't even stay up on that thing for 2 seconds. Either my legs weren't strong enough or I was just too dang heavy! Now, I am able to get up on that thing and stay up there with very little arm support. I don't do it very long because it's part of the circuit so at the most 60 seconds at a time, but I CAN DO IT!!! :)

I'm too embarrassed to even try the stairmaster. I'm afraid I'll jump on, sink, and not be able to climb up! I don't think mastered is too strong of a word, that's awesome!

Hey, Marchies! I had my sixth fill two days ago so I'm hopeful that I will finally have restriction (I'm at 2.8 in a 4 cc band). The great news is that this morning I was down 5 lbs! I'm so excited, since I've been on a plateau for over a month now. I'm not changing my ticker yet because I do fluctuate before really settling into a weight but if this holds, I only have 3 lbs. to go before ONE-derland! I'm setting the goal to be there by the end of August. I can do it if I continue with my average of 1 lb. per week since surgery--of course, I'll be THRILLED if I do better than that! Woohoo!

Happy August--keep up the great work Marchie friends.

Thanks for the shopping tips. I've determined that I just can't wear a one piece dress. I have one last hope - a silk charmeuse godet skirt with a cap-sleeve, v-neck blouse. This HAS to work, or I don't know what else to do. I've tried about every style. My shape is hard to fit right now. The inches aren't coming off my waist like I hoped. My hips and legs are shrinking though. It's hard to get excited about buying clothes because things are too tight in the waist but loose in the hips.

I've made a major committment to exercise this month. I really failed last month - at exercise and weightloss both. I have my chart up and will do DAILY exercise. I'm concentrating on yoga, eliptical, circuit, & walking.

TammyJ, you are doing awesome!!

Congratulations on breaking that plateau Momlambert!

Sophie:

I am having the very same problem, with my weight lost, its just not coming off of the waist. I know exactly what you mean about the hard to fit part. If I can get the pant done up at the waist then the rest of it is so baggy I look like a clown.

I do some swimming and walking for my activities, what should I be doing to correct this? Anyone have any suggestions?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
