Pain 10 days post op

Recommended Posts

I've had a rough go but things had been looking up. The only pain I still have is a stabbing burning pain to the very right of my belly button. It's bad enough that I can't stand up straight and walk yet. I was walking and felt like two strings next to my belly button pop inside of me and the pain was terrible! I don't know what to do about it I hear of so many people up and back to work by now. I've been off pain meds since day 6 and won't go back. Anybody still in this much pain this far out?

Have you called your surgeon? Everyone is different, but I was back at work on day 10 and feeling fine.

I did a couple days ago when the new pain near my belly button started but they said it's because the instruments had to go through that tissue. I also think my surgeon requiring me to wear a drain tube the size of Texas in my stomach for 6 whole days after surgery has put me behind a bit. If by Monday I'm not able to do more I'll call again I guess.

I had one night around a week out where i got a horrific cramp just below an incision. Sharp searing aggravating pain.

Mine was self caused by reaching down to my feet to drag the covers up. It's still delicate @3weeks

I have the exact same pain but it is easing up daily. I will use a pillow against that area of my tummy when getting out of bed or up from a seated position. I don't have a problem walking and have returned to work which I think has helped with soothing the pain. I asked my doc and he pretty much said the same thing as yours, which isn't much - it's the most sensitive area and where a stitch is blah blah blah - sending hugs and no pain your way, I'm praying that as time passes it will completely disappear

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
