Support groups in Maryland?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone-

I am new to this site. I just joined today. I was banded on June 27, 2007 and I am so thrilled. The weight loss has been slow but I will have to learn to be patient. I have lost about 18 pounds. I think that I am in need of a support group to keep me on track. Does anyone know of any support groups in Maryland? Any help would be appreciated.

St. Agnes Hospital at Caton & Wilkens Avenue has them I believe 3rd wednesdays for post lap band. You can call 410-368-8725 to find out especially when they are held. I'm planning to get banded if I'm approved at St. Agnes (Dr. Averbach), in however soon I can go - which will probably be sometime next year before I can get banded.

I believe GBMC has one as well. I got banded there July 12. I'm not sure of the times but here is there number 443-849-3779. Congrats on 18 pounds gone forever!! If up can't find one maybe we should start our own! I know I could use it!

I Have Optimum Choice Insurance And Got My Approval In Less Than 2 Weeks. Dr's Singh And Averbach Office And St. Agnes Hosp Are Considered A Center Of Excellence So I Didn't Have To Go Thru Alot Of Test And Such That I Hear Other People Have To Go Through. I Have A Girlfriend Who Had To Wait 6 Months For Her Approval Too. She Has The Same Insurance I Have But Went To Sinai Hospital. She Had To Have 6 Months Of Recorded Weight Loss, Have Ekg's, sleep Study Test, And Some More Stuff And Still Hasn't Had Her Surgery Yet. She Hopes To Get It Done By The End Of This Month Or Early Next Month. Good Luck To You!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
