Hello all. I have a question. It's not so much about surgery as it is about the issues that come with being heavy.

Do or have any of you had issues with sweat under your stomach, and what did you do or are doing to remedy that issue?

Thanks!

gold bond powder! Also I take a shower once a day. I can't stand feeling dirty, even just imagined dirt.

@@thebynum79 I use regular baby powder sometimes too. The gold bond is sort of tingly because it's medicated to help raw skin, and the baby powder is just soft and is more to help prevent issues, from my experience. Any powder will work, it's sort of personal preference. :)

If you're thinking of getting plastics someday, make sure you talk to your dr about your issues. I did, they documented it for future insurance approval and prescribed me nystatin cream and powder to use.

Pre-Op strategy for me was to take a morning & evening shower and use Mitchum brand deodorant (best stuff in the universe......they have men's & women's formulas.....absolutely awesome product).

Post-Op strategy......lost the belly....almost. No kidding......it's going away bigtime in the 4 months since sleeve surgery. I can't begin to tell you how much better I feel about everything, too. Loosing that beer gut is such a relief.

I resorted to buying quick dry sports towels to put underneath. They are thin, absorb well and dry fast. I was hoping to be able to stop using them but now I can't stand the sensation of skin on skin so I still use them. They are just a little too long now ;-)

Use an anti-bacterial soap. I use Dial gold anti-Bacterial soap bar, for all my rolls and it works perfect. FYI I live in the Desert, Palmdale California, known for triple digit weather and dry heat.

Best wishes;)

Also, I used it after having a C-section, I was sent home with staples because of my overlapping belly. I never got a infection.

I use Secret antiperspirant. When I use it under my arms, I put a layer on under my belly. I found that the powders only work to a point for me, but the antiperspirant has worked much better.

Nystatin spray powder is awesome and easier to apply than some powders... I also like anti-monkey-butt. They have great advertising and a decent product.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
