Vitamins and supplements

My head is spinning with the amount of Vitamins and supplements I have to remember to take everyday. Any tips on organizing these to make it easier? I find myself at 11PM going through the checklist in my head to make sure I've gotten everything in. I bought a pill organizer which lets you remove just the day you need and take it with you but the pill compartments are too small.

I didnt take any of them no Vitamins no Proteins and i turned out fine

With Bypass Vitamins and supplements are imperitive to stave off health problems that don't show up right away, and several are irreversible.

I make things easy by taking a truly complete multivitamin: optisource Post Bariatric Vitamins. 4 tablets per day. They have all the Calcium, Iron, B12, thiamin, etc that the ASMBS recommends.

It seems odd to me that I'm NOT supposed to take any Vitamins until my three week checkup, does that seem odd to anyone?

I have two pill organizers. One for my daytime meds and one for my night time meds. I also take Calcium and D during the day, but I keep those with my morning meds and just take them later. ONce a week I go through and set up all my meds for the week. This includes medicine and vitamins/supplements. Its the only way I have found to keep it all straight. I carry my daytime meds with me in my purse and keep the nighttime meds next to my bed. Its become a sunday night ritual for me to get them set for next week.

That is a good idea- two different pill organizers!

What do you have to take? I have a chewable multi & calcium chew - I have to take both throughout the day but only those two types.

The only thing I am required to take is two bariatric multi Vitamins (two is 1 serving), three chewable Calcium with Vitamin D, B12, and omeprazole.

Because of bowel issues I also take two probiotic pills (2= 1 serv.), one or two colace gel caps and Biotin for my hair and nails. I also am taking stuff short term for a UTI. Fun fun

I take b1 and Calcium in the am

Multi Vitamin & d at bedtime

The only 1 that don't fit into a pill organizer is the calcium and I just have a process. I get up in the am, stop at the cabinet grab my calcium which is the first thing I take.

Down the road I will have to add B12 back in but that is taken once per week.

I know this much, Vitamins and Protein are critical to a WLS patients overall success. Not taking them against doctor recommendations just isn't very responsible. Both bypass and sleeve patients require long term nutrition management. There is a reason it is for life.

Given the sleeve is so new and there is not a lot of data, I hope irresponsible patients who end up with complications don't skew the real data. Those that do follow doctors orders.

i do the. Once a week I organize my medication. They have pill organizers that have big compartments. I just had my 6month blood work and my body chemistry is perfect. So it is important to take what is ordered.

My NUT said not to start until after my 2 week visit. I was surprised too.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
