Reporting from my hospital bed

So, my surgery was today!!

Everything went smoothly and no complications.

My mouth feels dry like the desert and although I don't have any shoulder gas pain I am belching like a guy in a bar downing a few beers.

Overall it's been wonderful and I did have a quick flash of "should I do this?"

But that thought passed quickly!

So now I'm walking the halls and feeling no pain, just a little sore.

Anyone else run the gauntlet with me today???

  • Welcome to the Losers' Bench! It's nice here, isn't it? So wonderful for you that you are now post-op. So it begins...

  • @ "Nurse_Lenora" Congrats. It sounds like you're doing all of the right things. ???? I joined the folks on the losers bench this past Monday. Like you, the experience has been just fine. I've asked

  • I also had my surgery on February 10th. Back at home now. I'm not in much pain but excited to get this journey started

I will say that being a female who carried a significant amount of weight in her abdomen I am glad I lost almost 30lbs pre op.

When you lay on your side in bed that stomach pulls and can be very uncomfortable even with splinting with a pillow. I am glad I had a smaller abdomen thus less pulling ????

Omg, right?!?! I am usually a side or stomach sleeper, but i just cant do it yet. Until that main incision pain goes away. Just the pulling on it is too much even with the compression bandage and the pillow support.

Major, major sliding going on here on the Losers' Bench!!!! Wonderful!!! :)

Welcome, all you, "losers"!!!! Ha!

It will be great for you to have each other to walk you new path together. Of course, that is on top of all of us folks here on BP.

You've heard the starting pistol fire and you're coming up on the first bend. Go, fillies, go!!!!

good for you I had a rough rough recovery. Keep walking and sip sip sip sip

I'm so glad everything went well for you. My surgery is this Tuesday. I hope and pray I will have a recovery similar to yours. Hugs!

So I am having surgery tomorrow and I can't get rid of this severe nausea. Fun times! I can't drink anything without gagging. Its my darn migraine. I need crackers to settle my tummy or I will be puking all day. My bariatric clinic is closed today too so I can't calk and beg them for help. So anyway., I just needed to vent. Maybe I can attempt to nap.
