I've had some - when there were chunks of it in fruit salad. It's a really acidic fruit so probably not something I'd want to try until I was a few months out of surgery.

I had bypass and had pineapple beginning around month 4 post op. I can eat a few bites but more than that and I get what I would describe as near dumping.

I am careful but I do eat it once in a while. For me it is about quantity.

so what are safe fruits

the only fruit I've had so far that didn't give me any issue was a banana. Which is lucky, because I LOVE bananas. :)

At 2 months, I was allowed fruits without skins or seeds... think melon or peeled pear and apple. I stayed away from raspberries, strawberries, etc because the small seeds can be uncomfortable.

I haven't had any issues with fruit. When I was cleared for fruit I did a bunch of peaches and nectarines. But, I do pineapple, grapes, apples and bananas. I find apples feel me up really fast so I can't eat many.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
