How many calories should I be eating 7 month post op. I haven't lost in almost a month :(

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

Am worried that I have stretched my pouch!. I have been eating a lot more, eating stuff I should not be eating. Am 7 month post op and have lost 107 lb. The months of December and January i haven't really lost like I use to. How many Calories should I be eating? I really need to get back to eating right and excising more. Am scared I have made my pouch big.

The losses definitely slow down in later months. How many calories you need to eat is somewhat dependent on how much exercise you are getting. I'd guess that at 7 months I was up around 1500-1700 calories a day, but I was running regularly. The real question is, are you getting in all your Water and Protein, that number is MUCH more important than calories.

Did you have sleeve or bypass? You say "pouch" so I am assuming bypass? If so, I am 8 months post-op and just recently increased my calorie intake to 900-1000. Before that, I was closer to 800 for several months. As @@JamieLogical Protein, carb, fat makeup is more important really than calories. I am for 30g fat, 75g carbs and 105g Protein (which totals 990 calories). Sometimes I am over in one category (generally fat) and lower in others but my protein is ALWAYS greater than carbs.

What was your start weight? What is your goal weight? If you are close to goal, weight loss slows down a lot.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
