Wow....what did they say to change about your diet?

She said that I;m not eating enough Protein or eating enough calories.

She said to aim for 30 grams/protein a meal, yes 3 times a day, and to supplement with a Pshake twice a day as well. It's quite overwhelming! So far, I've found that the Jenny-O turkey burgers for lunch & dinner are my best bet, since they're right at 30 grams of Protein. They take about 45 minutes to finish, but I can finish one now. Breakfast is the hardest!

I had gastric on 1-12..one month ago. I've had no troubles, no nausea, and I can eat anything...and I mean anything including sugar. salad and meats are not a problem either as long as I chew well. My concern is that I don't feel the restriction they said I would feel when I started eating solid foods. I have to really be on my game or this isn't going to work for me.

At my two week checkup, the surgeon said I could eat anything. I took him literally and I haven't lost a pound since. Monday I started meal planning and weighing my foods so I can start losing weight again. I have to remind myself that the surgery was a tool and not a fix.

How is it going now? Have you been able to start your loss again? I'm on week 2 without any loss, and had surgery 1/11.

Hi! I had my surgery on 1/27 and have been doing great! I've lost 15 lbs so far and am very happy with that as I was probably on the lighter side to begin with. I have also been diabetes free. I'm still on puree but go to soft foods this weekend. Any suggestions on foods that are high in Protein? I don't think I have been getting in all the protein I am supposed to.

Hi All, I had surgery on 13/01 lost 7kg in my first week, then hit a stall for two weeks! (THE HORROR!!!) I avoided the scales for 3 weeks back on the losing wagon but a lot slower! It might be the January curse and blessing in disguise - I have little to no restriction so decided to start putting extra time in working out. My transition to food has had no limits but my food choices have changed drastically: I have salad with everything! Good carbs: brown rice, couscous, quinoa; Protein - of course.

I did feel I was the only one but glad to know I'm not. But better food choices = results. Started weighing myself again so will see if there is continuation in progress!

I had surgery 1/19. I've had 2 subsequent surgeries for complications, but seem to be holding my own now. It's good to read how everyone deals with different problems, I can use all the ideas I can get!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
