Chicken livers... It's what's for dinner

Recommended Posts

Beef goes down hard for me. Two bites and there is a rock in my belly. And I'm only slightly happier with chicken and pork. Fish is good, especially undercooked salmon. eggs are hating me.

Tonight, at a fancy restaurant, there was a chicken liver appetizer. I thought, mmmmm, that's like mostly pre chewed food already! They were cooked perfectly, not overdone, and they went down easy. Stayed down. I chewed and swallowed 3 lovely, lightly fried chicken livers. I didn't even feel overfull! At 57 cal each - fried - and 7g Protein each, worse choices have been made.

Check it out! It was good.

(8.5 weeks post op, me, and almost 30 pounds down, feeling really good.)

I LOVE chicken livers, even the gizzards if I slow cook them in a crock pot, they melt in your mouth after an overnight slow cook!

Maybe it's the memory of being made to eat livers weekly as a kid, but NOTHING you just wrote has changed my mind...I'd rather starve! :D Sure glad you found something that agrees with you though.

I have always loved liver - beef or chicken versions. I've converted the husband too, as I soak beef liver overnight in milk to remove the bitter taste, and I add a bit of hot pepper and garlic to my chicken liver recipe - they are awesome!

Yuck, yuck, and yuck! It's weird but my mother always made me eat chicken liver, beef liver and chicken gizzards and hearts over rice as a kid.

Yuck! Did I say that already.

I will say that I used to work at a churches fried chicken when I was very young. We offered deep fried gizzards and I loved those.

I also use the turkey liver, gizzard and heart in my stuffing but they are puréed in a food processor first and make fabulous flavor in stuffing.

I glad you found a Protein that agrees with you. The only way I will eat liver is if it is minced and well hidden in spicy food, or wrapped in bacon and baked. Otherwise, Blechhhhhh!

When I was pregnant with one of my kids, I actually craved chicken liver and gizzards dipped in chocolate milk. I would eat it and hen throw up and then eat some more and then throw up. lol it was a horrible ride. I can't look at them the same way now. Glad you found something to work for you though!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
