i brought a robe to cover my butt when i walked, gas x strips cuz i heard they really help with gas, house shoes. i wore home the same clothes i wore up there. i also brought my phone charger and an extra pair of clothes just in case i needed them, which i did not. the hospital provided body wash and Shampoo when i was able to shower.

I brought my favorite soft blanket from home. I was glad that I brought slippers for walks in the hall. Comfy pants for the car ride home, my incisions were at my normal pants waistline.

At home, I had all my Protein shakes that I would need for the next two weeks. I Water bottle that measured how much I was drinking. Good luck!

Congrats your surgery date! You will be great. I just had my sleeve done on 1/21. Here are a few things I would suggest bringing.

  • Comfortable clothes. I wore comfy clothes, but also brought some to wear home. I've heard of many people just wearing home the clothes they came in. Up to you!
  • Phone/phone charger
  • Robe. You will be asked to get up and walk around, so you may want this to cover yourself up. The hospital provided one for me, but it was a bit small.
  • Slippers for when you walk the halls
  • Something that will bring you comfort. Totally optional, but my husband gave me a stuffed animal and I kept it with me when I stayed overnight.

Best of luck to you!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
