Really discouraged

Recommended Posts

I'm coming up on a year since my surgery, and I've only lost 22 pounds. I'd love your opinions on what I can do to get back on track.

Since the surgery, I started off doing well at exercising, but had two falls in which I hurt both knees, so walking got really rough. Before the surgery, I fell (in the locker room at Water aerobics) on my keester and am still hurting from that, though I guess I didn't break anything. (My keester has adequate padding!) So now I'm back to walking, but I guess not frequently enough.

I have 9.5 cc in an 11 cm VG Band, and feel like I can eat far too normally. I never was a really big eater -- I've had people who spend a lot of time with me tell me that I don't eat nearly enough to be as fat as I am. I've always said I don't eat too much, but I do eat the wrong things (carbs).

I have frequent episodes where I swallow too fast and then start coughing (PB and sliming, I guess). This happens as often as 3 times a day but not every day. I'm thinking maybe I was too aggressive with the fills and need a slight unfill.

So the good news is, I'm stronger and a little bit less fat than before the surgery but I haven't lost anything since Christmas. HELP!

Thanks for the advice, Betty. I did go to the doctor. He did a fluroscopic exam of the band, and found it's where it should be, with no slippage or stretched pouch. So he withdrew all the Fluid, found there was no leak. He had me swallow barium, then filled the band until no more barium would pass. He then withdrew .5cc, so I now have 10.5 cc in an 11 cc band. To my astonishment, I'm coughing/gagging/pbing a lot less than I did before, and I'm not nearly as hungry. This was done 10 days ago, and I've lost 2 pounds!

YES!

Congrads Ge Mom! You Must Of Been So Discuraged! I Pray This Will Do The Trick! Once You Start Losing, You Will Be So Happy. I Had Only Lost About 15 Lbs In 5 Mos. I Got My 4th Fill And Boy Oh Boy, I Have Been So Tight. I Have Lost About 70 Since The Last Fill And I Am Still Very Tight. I Don't Care Though Cause I Am Still Losing And Only 36 Lbs From My First Goal Of 199. I Never Thought I Would Ever Get Close To That Number.

Keep Your Chin Up And Do Your Best. I Really Think This Will Help And The Best Thing Is Your Feeling Better And Eating Less! Hurray!! You Will Be With Us In No Time. You Have To Remember, That If You Did Not Have The Sx, You Might Of Gained Instead Of Losing The 22 Lbs. Now, It Will Start Coming Off And You Will Continue To Feel Better With Each Lb.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
