I used to be a Pixburgher, but move south for warmer weather... :)

Rough loss for dem Stillers last week. If Cope was still around there would have been a few Doule Yoi's!

Make sure you get your Primanti's in before your surgery date. It will be a few months after survey before you can eat one of those, or should I say part of one...

Good luck with your surgery!

I live 2 hours south of Pittsburgh. Die hard Steelers fan. They did well this year, considering Big Ben was hurt, Antonio was out and Deangelo and Le'von was out too..

Have like 3 weeks till surgery, they are calling this week for the date.. 2 week pre-op liquid diet this week. I'm gonna get a steak !! Ha

Bsanders-yeah, Steelers did great, considering all the injuries! We'll get them next year! Good luck with your surgery! I am scheduled for the 15th. Enjoy your steak! I am having smoked turkey dinner before I go on the pre-op diet! ????.

I am post op. Surgery date was 12/23.

The season certainly had its ups and down. Line backer ply picked this year as everybody stayed healthy. The secondary needs some help. I think Pouncy has missed as much as he's has played.

I never did get my "last dinner". They crammed me in at the end of the year, so the day I found out I had to start my diet.

Your right about Pouncy.. He hasn't played but 16 games in 3 years.. He's kinda fragile I guess!! Next year might look good for us.

How you doing post op?

I'm doing pretty good. First few days were kind of rough, but you expect that. Getting all my Protein and Water in can be tough at times. I started setting timers on my cell phone to remind me. I wasn't prepared for how little I could eat. Early on I purchased little 2 ounce cups at the grocery store, so I could measure everything out. It takes some adjustment, but I have no regrets. I started my preop diet on 12/13 and have lost 50 pounds since then.

Are both you doing a liquid preop diet? I was so thankful I didn't do that. I did an extreme low fat and low carb. Wasn't great food, but it was food.

Hi all you fellow Pixburgers!!! I'm from the City but live in McMurray Pa now just south of Pittsburgh. Have to admit and I hide saying this (I'm not a big steeler person) Please don't hate me ???? I just never really understood football. I do watch them tho lol.

I am half way through the process for my sleeve at this point. I have my 4th visit the first Thursday of February. Still need a stress test but nothing else after that. I've done everything they've asked (and boy it's been a lot!).

@@Ronjohn, congrats on your progress! Sounds like your doing great and adjusting well! And I too will be moving south in 3 years when my hubby is retired from the airforce!

@@Newbe312, Your time is coming up soon! I wish you all the luck! Enjoy that smoked turkey dinner!!! I bet it's gonna taste amazing!

@@bsanders, good luck to you in your upcoming liquid diet! Be creative and enjoy that Steak!!! Do you by chance live anywhere close to where I am since you said south of Pgh? I'm not as far as 2hrs tho.

I hope you all keep in touch and let me know how you all do and are doing!!! Where are your surgeries being done?

@cladd-You live in my old stomping ground. I lived in Peters Township. There are certainly a ton of hoops to jump through. I understand why people go down to Mexico.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
