I am new to this site. I got my approval for my gastric sleeve yesterday!! They told me to start a 3 day liquid diet and the Protein shakes. My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday Jan. 26th. 3 days from now. It seems like all I am reading on here is longer diet times. I got on here to see if I can have de-caf coffee and tea. Does anyone know/

My timetable is exactly the same as yours. I found out yesterday I was approved for Jan. 26, 2016. I have four days of liquid diet. My weight doctor told me that some bariatric surgeons do not require any pre-op diet. Those that require the liquid diet are hoping you can find Protein Drinks you like and continue with after surgery and also hoping that the weight loss will shrink your liver so that surgery is easier. And yes, I can gave any Decaf tea or coffee.< /p>

My surgery is the same day Tuesday Jan 26th. I have been on an elective 2 week full liquid diet and I have just one day of Clear Liquids the day before surgery. This whole two week thing has been awful! I'm starving! But I'm so ready for surgery! I wish y'all the best. We should follow each other's journey since we are starting on the same day!

I am also wondering. My surgery isn't until March 16th, but my surgeon only has me on a 1-day liquid diet. After reading almost everyone else's lengthy times I am puzzled ????

I have surgery on Monday, and have been on a almost-all liquid diet since Monday I am allowed 2 Meal Replacement bars, the rest are Protein drinks, Water, Jello, sugar free drinks. And yes, I am allowed Decaf coffee. (I cheated and had regular coffee though...I needed the energy!) Its an 870 calorie protein rich diet of liquids, ugh.

Hi, everyone! It's great to read your comments and see so many of us having the same feelings and fears. Today I wasn't as hungry on the liquid diet, but my energy level was zero! And I never thought I would get tired of chocolate flavored shakes and puddings, but I am. Cream of wheat made with milk was listed as a choice on my liquid diet. I made some, added a little Splenda, and felt like I was eating real food. Haven't eaten it in years, but it tasted great. Still a little worried. I still can't believe sometimes that I am choosing to have elective surgery. My mother was a nurse and one of her pieces of wisdom was to never let them put you under the knife unless it is absolutely necessary! In a way it is necessary for a healthy future. Just two more days!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
