Hey guys I'm only 2 weeks out from surgery but I would like some input. After you are fully healed is there anything that you cannot eat? I mean I know that there are things that you should not eat from any diet standpoint but is there anything your body will not tolerate? I am a huge cake fan and I think that I should be able to reward myself with a small piece of cake every great once in a while (as long as I up my gym time to counteract). Has anyone found that they cannot eat certain foods?

I think lots of people find that things that formerly appealed to them, or that they didn't have trouble with, can cause issues after surgery. From what I've gathered, it's very, very individual. You'll just have to wait and see.

My RD said to try only one "new" food at a time once I'm solids, just like a baby. Something doesn't work today, fine, put it aside for a few weeks, then try again.

Today is my 10 week anniversary and I eat almost everything but a lil at a time. I walk a lot and my Dr will not let me work out for a few more weeks . I know I am supposed to have Protein but I am so sick of chicken and lean meat and hard boiled eggs. Good luck to you if unsure of what to eat at this point you should contact your Nut.

I am going on 17 months post-op and the only thing that really makes me uncomfortable to eat is raw vegetables. They make me very gassy/burpy. I do fine with cooked vegetables. Breads I *can* eat, but they are super filling, so I tend to avoid them. Like, for example, my husband and I made homemade pizza the other day. I've actually been tracking my food the past week (out of curiosity) and while the portion of pizza I allotted for myself was a reasonable weight/mass and calorie count, I couldn't eat nearly all of it, because the crust was just so filling. I ended up just scraping the cheese and toppings off of a good portion of it and leaving the crust.

I haven't completely deprived myself of anything, especially since I am at goal and maintaining now. I can eat Cookies, cake, candy, ice cream, spicy food, fried food.... Just the raw veggies and breads are at all challenging for me. I have only thrown up one time since my surgery and that wasn't because of any specific type of food, it was because I ate way too much too fast on Thanksgiving.

4 years revised from band to sleeve and I can eat anything but don't like uber spicey anymore. I have a general aversion to crappy low quality food but that's more because I deserve better.

When I was banded, I could never tolerate rice.

I'm 6 months and I can eat everything. Some things I have only had one bite of just to taste them. I really find that I am just not interested in food like I was in the past.

I can eat anything other than bread with yeast (cake is fine) and can drink anything non-carbonated.

You didn't ask but I'll go ahead and say I think your plan to "reward" yourself with cake is perhaps something you should examine. Do you want to continue to have the kind of relationship with food where it is a reward or a punishment?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
