With the revision I know it is a one night stay. My question is, who (if anyone) stayed the night with you? Did someone just drop you off and come back and pick you up the next day? We live approx 1.5 hours away from the hospital and I am just wondering what others, who have had to travel have done. Thanks

No one stayed with me....All I did was walk and sleep. Not much to see there.

I haven't had mine yet but I will be flying out alone. Family will take me to the airport/pick me up.

It was only a thirty minute drive to the hospital. My sister took me and stayed for a few hours after surgery. I told her that I was fine so went home. Her husband picked up the following morning.

No one stayed with me. Mother in law dropped me off. Husband came and visited for an hour first night. Then he came late the next afternoon and picked me up.

No one stayed with me. Hubby and mom stayed during the surgery. Mom had to go get kiddo from school and brought him up to say hello that night. They all left and mom picked me up the next day. She didn't even have to get out of the car!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
