3-4 month post op check in...how you doin?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, just checking in with my September and October sleevers. I feel my weight loss is kinda slow, but I'm ok with it. No loose skin, and it's not obvious that I had surgery. I weighed in at 310 on Sept 4, and today I am 254. I fluctuate between 251 and 254. I feel my weight loss is going well, and I know it could be even better if I were working out daily. I do use my Fitbit and do my best to get 10,000 steps per day, but I haven't started a true workout regimen. Just wanted to see how you all are holding up and what your numbers are looking like. Hope you all are holding up and losing!

Howdy there. Looks like you are doing really well !

Had my sleeve in mid-October 2015 and It's been awesome. I haven't yet begun weight training until my surgeon clears me (sleeve is up for it, but he also repaired an umbilical hernia-3rd repair, too---at the same time as the sleeve was done). Anticipating getting the green light later this month.

I've also been using a ftibit One on my keychain. It's not always on my person on my days off....but work days it is. Also been getting in my 10K per day.

My stats and progress pics are in the profile section.

In summary, my starting weight when entering the bariatric program was 478 lbs at 6'4".

By mid-October, I weighted in at 422 the morning of my surgery.

I weight this morning on my two scales at the house....347 on one and 353 on the other.

Herniated disc is obviously healing for me. No longer taking any pain meds or treatment for it. The other ailments melting away along with the fat. Some unwanted muscle loss that I'm concerned about and have started getting more strict on my Protein intake.

I've ordered some Biotin products to begin taking asap in hopes of getting ahead of any hair loss.

Clothes are always being replaced only to be replaced again. Funny the changes that occur.

I have zero regrets other than waiting so long to do this. Should've sleeved much, much earlier.

Life is good.

@@Dub that's amazing! Congrats! I agree about the clothes, but I'm cheap so I've been wearing the things that were too snug before, and they are still too big. I wore a 3x-4x or 24 before surgery, and now I can wear a 1x/XL-2x, or size 18. I had my first non scale victory, I got a bra from Victoria's Secet! Pretty big deal for me, as I always had to get bras from Lane Bryant. Granted I bought the largest bra there, 38DDD, but exciting nonetheless. I also wish I had done this sooner, but on the other hand I feel like it's perfect timing: I'm 30 and I have the maturity and income to provide the things I need to be successful this time. Had I done this sooner, I'm not sure that I could have stayed on track. I feel that 2016 is gonna be a great year for us ????

I was sleeved on 9/28. I am down to 244. My biggest NSV so far is that my wife and I went to Old Navy the day after Christmas and we hit the clearance sale. I got a pair of size 36 wool dress pants for $5. That was so amazing to get new clothes and pay so little. I got like a whole new wardrobe for the cost of what 2 or 3 pairs of pants use to cost the old me.

My wife and I are working with a personal trainer 2 days a week and we do yoga 1 day a week. We are doing really good. Hopefully soon we will be in good enough shape to join the group exercise classes.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
