Is laparoscopic surgery possible if someone had other abdominal surgery procedures in the past?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I need to prepare a paper on "Bariatric Surgery". I have one doubt. Is laparoscopic surgery possible if someone had other abdominal surgery procedures in the past? I searched in the internet. But it is too difficult to understand. Please give me a reply. Otherwise i need to depend some essay services who is writing essays for cheap. Please give me a reply.

My height is 157 and my weight is 65. Is it over weight? What are the grey side of weight loss surgeries?

Thank you :)

I can tell you that laparascopic surgery is just a method of doing surgery. Having prior abdominal surgery will not necessarily have any effect on the method of the next surgery. It is more about the condition of the organs.

For instance, I had traditional (meaning I was cut open) surgery to remove my gall bladder about 20 years ago. Laparascopic surgery was just becoming the standard at that time. But my surgeon said according to the ultrasound, it looked like my gallbladder was about to burst, and he wanted to get in there and take it out in one piece before it did so.

Now, 20 years later, I have bariatric surgery, and it is done laparascopically. Some people have to convert to an open surgery once the surgeon gets in there, but I didn't. My surgeon even went in thru my old gallbladder scar so I wouldn't have yet one more scar (I still have four others from the lap surgery).

It probably won't be a problem, just communicate with your surgeon about it. I had gall bladder removed laparoscopically in the past, as well as a "crash" emergency c-section (under full anesthesia and cut vertically straight down my abdomen). Neither of those procedures (or scars) were an issue.

In 2010 I had a laparoscopic abdominal surgery and also in 2015. No problems here.

My belly looks like a knife block with all my laproscopic slits from gallbladder, hysterectomy and sleeve. Wasn't an issue.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
