November 2015 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

Welcome all!! So happy you all replied! Sounds like we all have a lot in common being Nov Sleevers! I'm going through a lot of what you all are. Don't get a lot of solid foods down. Basically only about 3 oz of animal Protein 3x a day, little veg/fruits, thank goodness for Protein Shakes bc I would never get 60g of protein in! I'm getting enough fluids but I have literally drink all day. Started taking a daily antacid this am bc everything gives me indigestion. Can't eat anything even remotely spicy which I really miss but what can you do? I'm continually looking for creative ways to get protein in so if anyone has suggestions or tricks, let me know please! I've lost 46 lbs as of today. Started back to the gym last week and loving it. No dumping for me but I eat really clean so that helps. I did cheat today with more carbs than usual but it's the only day so far. I'm thinking about starting a private page on FB for us... Would anyone be interested? I think it would be easier. Let me know! So glad to have you all here. I'm gonna share my before and current pics. Feel free to share yours! post-269045-14518696665841_thumb.jpg

I was sleeve November 15 2015. The day of surgery I weighed 267 in down to 228. I'm still trying to figure out what I can eat, so far I've never been sick since surgery. Sometimes I feel like my sleeve isn't working but then my weight says different. I would like to know what everyone is eating and how much of it.

I was sleeved on November 10th and, between my four-week pre-op diet and post-surgery weight loss, I am down 102 lbs. I have been fortunate in that I have not really had any problems getting enough Protein or Water in each day. Based upon my nutritionist's recommendations and feedback on this forum, I aim for about 100 g of protein per day. Since I am only supposed to eat somewhere between 600-700 calories per day, that means that just about everything that I eat has to be pretty high in protein. My go-to foods are Greek yogurt, grilled chicken breast, grilled shrimp & scallops, turkey, with a couple of Protein Shakes per day thrown in. So far, so good.

@@Thucydides wow!!! 102 pounds is a lot I bet you look and feel great! Thanks for the food options. Do you keep tabs on your carb intake or just calories? So far I'm at 400-500 calories a day, but I'm having trouble with my Protein intake...

Thanks, @@bsilva! I definitely feel much better. I have a good distance left to go, but everything is already so much easier. Being 500+ lbs involves a lot of planning! It isn't much fun worry about things like can I park close enough to where I need to go?, how early do I have to leave for a meeting so as to not arrive sweaty and out of breath?

I count Protein, carbs, fat, and calories using an iPhone app (mynetdiary). I am sufficiently nerdy that I like generating the charts of the nutrients that I take in and the pounds that I lose. I initially had trouble getting enough Protein and staying within the calorie bounds. That is the place where using shakes as a supplement has been helpful for me. I start the day with one and then follow with a fat-free Greek yogurt a little bit later. That gets me to 42 g of protein pretty early in the day. From there, I try to eat something that gets me 20 g of protein for each of lunch and dinner. A second shake or a high-protein snack gets me close to 100 g protein goal. Honestly, I don't make it every day, but I never fall below 80 g of protein.

Nov. 23rd. Still trying to gage what I can and cannot eat, as somethings will be fine at one time and hurt the next (mind you, I cannot eat the 3-4 oz of Protein they want me to yet). liquids are hard (I am sick of Protein shakes), but I am finally seeing some consistent weight loss (about 1/2 lb per day mostly). am 6 weeks post, and starting an exercise routine this week and I hope, it moves my weight loss faster; clothes are getting very lose! I am excited now! Good luck on your journey!

Thanks, @@goddess977! In fairness, that 102 lbs includes the 46 lbs that I lost during my 4-week pre-op period as well. Congratulations to everyone on the remarkable progress.

11/16 was my sleeve date--- Have lost 67lbs total so far...but that include pre-op weight loss since I began this journey back in July. Having a horrible time eating/drinking/etc. Cardio at the gym is fine, but working out with the trainer is enough to make me want to puke/pass out which sucks. I have found out though.....that one workout...either cardio or weights usually ends up a pound loss for me...seriously it is crazy and motivating! Cleared for real food, but eating makes me feel sick..... so I'm finding my go to foods still seem to be protien shakes, Soups, I really like egg drop mixed with wonton Soup....never makes me feel sick--something I didn't like before surgery. My tastes for foods have changed....energy is hit or miss, but this week has been a good week so far! My goal this year is to put myself first so that I can reach my goals and be able to be there for those that I love :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
