Hi I just had gastric bypass on December 23rd. On day 5 now with my liquid diet. I had a small downfall on the 26 had to go to the hospital they told me that I had a small blockage because my intestines weren't metabolizing fast enough. After all that I am doing pretty good now. Keeping liquids down and staying on track.

I'm ok with not chewing until the boyfriend starts munching on crackers. Then he gets the side eyes lol. I feel like I spend so much time drinking that I don't have time to chew. No idea how it'll work when I'm actually moved over to soft foods.

I have not limited my family in what they can eat around me. I just figure that I need to get used to not being able to have what everyone else has. I wanted, very much, to slap the pizza out of my husband's hand when I saw and smelled it, though.

What are you doing for Water right now? I was told to try to do 20 ounces in the morning, 20 in the afternoon, and 20 in the evening. Are you using medicine cups to measure out your water? The hospital sent me home with two sleeves of medicine cups and I set up 6 each hour and sip them. Then just keep refilling.

I'm going to start doing it that way. Yes they sent me home with medicine cups as well. I been doing broth, water, powered, jello and propel Water. But I seem not not be taking in as much as I would like. I love your way. Thank you I'll will be trying that way now.

I had a horrible time with Water in the beginning. The medicine cup way seems terrific! Anyway, just wanted to say congratulations! :)

I had surgery on the 14th. It's hard to drink enough Fluid for me too. I didn't have a bm for over a week after surgery. I was miserable. Now I'm putting Miralax in my Protein Shake. Since starting soft foods, I've had scrambled eggs and oatmeal. Now I'm having diarrhea and don't if it's the food or the miralax. I feel nauseous frequently and the taste of my Protein Shakes make me want to puke too. I'm checking into non flavored Protein Powder. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone! I am new to the surgery too, had mine Dec. 9th. I have not been great at following the diet, as I didn't do well on the broth only part. I just jumped to eating a few bites a meal of some softer foods. I have had ham & Beans, ham & cheese sand., etc. and am down 23 lbs. Am I headed for trouble or is this considered a success for me?

My surgery was the 14th too, and I'm having the same struggle. Just took a laxative last night, and it has helped soooo much.

I can't stand the shakes either. I have been looking into Isopure unflavored powder (it's my understanding it can be added to even just Water with crystal light), or the New Whey Protein Shots.

I have had oatmeal, tuna, eggs, chicken salad, green Beans, mashed potatoes, string cheese, cottage cheese, shredded cheese, and whole wheat crackers, brown rice, and sautéed mushrooms.

Oh and some oatmeal and PB2 balls ????

My soft foods allows for a lot more than most, and I have been enjoying adding new things.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
